Welcome to a new year at Educare! The Speech and Language Program will be kicking off the year with screenings for all children who qualify for the Mild-Moderate Program. This program is offered through the Fort McMurray Public School District and is for all children who were born on or before March 1, 2007. You will receive a letter with the screening results. If your child was born after March 1, 2007, don’t worry! I will be screening all of the children beginning in October. If your child requires speech and language treatment, they will be taken care of right here at Educare. If your child received speech and language assessment or treatment at the hospital, please forward any reports or treatment summaries to Lynette so I can review them. I am looking forward to getting to know your little ones! If there are ever any questions, please do not hesitate to call, or email (weetalk@shaw.ca).

If It’s Green…. Please be aware that we want to take caution for the children and staff for being exposed to unnecessary germs; why you ask?
Many children tend to come to school ill. We are very proud that they love school, and insist on coming, however the decision to send them should be greatly considered. Illnesses can be passed around from child to child, and to our staff.
Further, with the possible start up of the H1N1 flu this fall, we must be diligent in our efforts to keep your children, yourselves, and us safe from this harmful virus.
We have hand sanitizer stations in the hallway and classroom for use upon entering and exiting the classroom. Remember, however, excessive use of hand sanitizer can remove all germs (healthy ones too). Our sanitizers are alcohol free, and child safe.
Please do not worry if your child is Star of the Day, as we will accommodate the changes.
If your child is experiencing the following symptoms, please do not send them to school:
· Excessive coughing · Fever · Red, runny eyes · Lethargic / tired
Remember: If it is green…do not be seen! Please let them get well.
The teachers will be calling parents to pick up their child if they deem that the child is too ill.
